人間の役割の話し
“セントラルパークの鴨”で少し触れた 、“人間”の役割について少々書くことにします。
私達の学びはそれぞれ違います。でもこの地球の3次元で一番上の人間としての役割は共通していると思います。例えば私は マックスと言う犬を飼っています。とても可愛いですし家族の一員です。でもペットってなんでしょう？本来ならば犬は犬として学ぶために生まれて来ました。家族を構成して、動物として犬としての学びをする為です。しかし人間は犬の学びを犠牲にして私達が癒されるためにペット化しました。値段をつけて売買します。これは奴隷ですよね？私はこのことに気づいていなかった時代にいまの犬を飼い始めました。そしてこれに気づいた時に本当に申し訳ないことをしたと思いました。そしてその時点で私が出来ることは犬に対してのお詫びと感謝でした。
セントラルパークには多くの違う種類の犬がいます。夏になると“ハァハァ”ととても苦しそうな犬たちがいます。その犬達の出身は寒い地方が多く、すぐバテています。ニューヨークの夏も日本と同じように暑くて湿気がありますのでこのような犬達にとっては特に辛いシーズンです。本来ならば自分たちに合っていると風土で生活するのが一番良いはずですが、我々は犬達をひと所に集めてしまいました。私の犬はジャックラッセルテリアで元々は昔イギリス地方の倉庫などで人の手が届かないような場所でネズミを捕まえる為に改良されたと聞いています。ペット化されるばかりではなく、人間の都合の良いように改良されているのも事実です。本来なら大きな犬を小型化したりもしているようです。
犬だけではなくて色々な動物が人間の欲の奴隷になっています。セントラルパークには小さな動物園があってそこになんとシロクマがいます。小さな場所と小さなプールに住んでいます。私の子供が小さい頃はよく見に行っていました。プールはシロクマのターンが良く見えるようにガラス窓になっており、時間になるとシロクマが小さいプールで行ったり来たりします。その頃は凄いものがセントラルパークで見れる！って思っていました。動物園は悲しい所です。なぜなら人間が見て喜んだり感動したりする為のみにあるからです。これが人間だったらとんでもないことですが動物だから構わないんですよね？
人間はこのように動物だけではなくてありとあらゆる存在を自分達の都合のいいように支配しています。これは3次元のリーダー役として情けないです。人間としての役割とは私達が何時ぞやはたどってきた動物、鳥や植物にとってそれらが学びやすい環境を提供するのも一つの役割ではないでしょうか？そして奴隷化するのではなく共存することではないでしょうか？私は“これはやめよう運動！”をしているわけではありません。ただあまりにも酷い現実がありことは知って頂きたいです。当たり前になっているその中には決して当たり前にはなってはいけない事が数々あるのではないでしょうか？そしてその中で100％出来なくても少しずつ自分を変えるという事が現実には人間以外の存在の役にもたっているのだと知って欲しいです。
人間の欲の増幅が地球をここまでにしてしまいました。悲しんで、悩んでいたって仕方ありません。やれることをやるしかありません。
セントラルパークでは体の不自由な犬も目にします。前脚や後ろ脚が一本無い犬などなんらかの障害のある犬も少なくありません。雑種と言われる犬も沢山います。その多くは虐待を受けて保護された犬達です。その犬達の飼い主となってレスキューしている人達も大勢います。ハンディーを背負っている犬達の親になっています。見た目はカッコ良くない犬達です。世話も大変です。中には“私はこんな素晴らしいことをしているんだ！”っ威張りたくてやっている人もいます。まるでレスキューする事が何かのステータスになっていて、自分の偉さを認めて欲しいから頑張ってる人達もいます。でも心から取り組んでいる本気の人達も沢山います。そんな人たちのことを知るとなぜか“ほっ”とします。
私はマックスのお陰で色々と助けられ、勇気付けられ、笑顔になりそして教えられ、、、、。本来の犬としての学びは出来なかったかもしれないけど私と私の家族でなければ学べなかった事を学んでくれていると思います。これからも貴方の命が続くまで一緒にいようね！
Story of Human’s Role
I decided to write about “Human’s Role” as I mentioned a little about this in “Ducks in Central Park”. Each of our themes of learning is different. However, our role as a human in the 3rd dimension on Earth seems common. For example, I have a dog named Max. He is adorable and a member of our family. But what is a pet? Dogs are supposed to be born as dogs to learn as dogs. They are supposed to make their own family to learn as dogs, as animals. However, humans made them sacrifice their true learning and instead, we made them into pets. We buy and sell them. Isn’t it slavery? I had Max when I did not realize this. The only thing I could do at that point of realizing it was to apologize and to appreciate him.
There are many different breeds of dogs in Central Park. In the summer I see some dogs panting so heavy and exhausted. Among many, their origins were from cold climates. As summer in New York is as hot and humid as that of Japan, summer seems to be the hardest season among these dogs. It is the best for them to live in their most suitable climate, but we made them gather in one place. My dog is a Jack Russell Terrier that is originally from England. I think they were developed to catch rats in warehouses where they were hard to reach by people. Not only do we have them as a pet, we also modify them for human’s convenience. We even make big dogs into small dogs so they fit in our life style.
Not only dogs, various animals became slaves to humans. There are polar bears in this small zoo in Central Park. They live in a small space and have a small pool. I used to take my son to this zoo when he was little. There was a glass window in the pool for people to see a polar bear swim and make turns. At a certain time of the day we can see them doing these actions. At that time, I thought it was incredible to be able to see polar bears in Central Park! A zoo is such a sad place because it exists only to meet human’s desire. It is out of question that this could happen to humans, but it is ok because they are animals?
Human beings are dominating not only animals but many existing things to fit their desires. It is such a shame as a leader of the 3rd dimension of Earth. We once were animals, birds and plants etc. therefore isn’t it our role to provide them environments that are easier for them to focus on their learnings? And isn’t it to coexist rather than make them our slaves? I think there is much untruth in what we believe as true and normal. Even if we cannot do 100%, I would like you to know that our continuous effort to change ourselves is also helping others existence on Earth.
Our Earth is what it is now because we have been increasing our desires. It does not solve problems by feeling sad or worrying about it. The only way is to do the best we can.
There are many handicapped dogs in Central Park. I see some dogs missing a leg or having other disabilities. Many are mixed breeds. Most of them are rescued from abuse. Some people rescue them to become their parents. They are not good looking dogs. It is not easy to take care of them either. Some people only do this so they can pretend to be good and caring. For some people rescuing dogs is some kind of status and they want others to know how great they are. But there are many people who do this truly from the bottom of their heart. I feel somehow relieved when I see people like this.
I have been saved and encouraged, Max makes me smile and he teaches me many things. Although he could not be with his family and learn as a dog with them, I’d like to believe that he is learning something that could only be possible with me and my family. Let’s be together as long as your life continues!
