“Story of Your Place in the Universe”

I thought I should write this after talking to a person.  We have a limit of what we can see through our eyes. We can only see ourselves through a mirror. How do I look from the side or back? People around us can see that, but they cannot see themselves.

I once told this person to look at herself from the outer space, putting all her thoughts aside as she had so much going on in her mind. I told her why don’t you look at yourself from the universe and you are smaller than a dot  ・ ?

I think many people have seen through a window of a plane when it takes off. First of all, the airport becomes smaller and smaller. You can no longer see people walking, and the cars become smaller. Then you see a city or village but eventually they are all gone and you are in the clouds.

Let’s put ourselves as a tiny dot・. We are standing on the ground, and within this tiny ・, we suffer hardship. For a moment, just imagine you are on the plane looking down through the window. And go further up and look for you. Did you find yourself?

That’s right, you cannot see ・(yourself).  Our existence is that small. However, this tiny ・is in so much trouble, for example, anger, sadness and worry etc.

Why don’t you see with a broad view? Let’s put everything you are suffering aside and get on a plane, not actually but just imagine it. Then once you are in the clouds, imagine going further up. I am sure you once saw a picture of the universe, so let’s go until you can see the Earth. Look, you cannot see the city of Tokyo nor New York. Needless to say, you cannot find you, can you?

We exist in a vast universe. Every existence is small like a dot ・. And human’s life is in it. Were you able to feel something that you never felt in everyday life?

However, this tiny dot ・is a part of creation of the Universe, our existences are large (our existences means so much) This tiny dot ・connects endlessly to different places in the Universe. Therefore, even if it is not directly connected, we are indirectly connected to each other. So from the point of view of the Universe, we are not alone.

There is the Universe in our background. We have both a tiny and large “ourselves”. A tiny me is what we are in everyday life, a large me is a part of the Universe. Furthermore, looking at us from the micro world, we are so big. Because every cell in our body is working, we can live, can’t we? We are connected to the Universe just like cells are connected to our body.

Therefore, there are bad times in your life, but let’s be laid-back as much as you can and live our lives. Let’s not struggle within this tiny dot ・that cannot even be seen from the Universe. Look, can’t you do this easier than before? Don’t you feel foolish worrying and being prideful?
